Seoul, South Korea CNN —China’s newest, largest and most-advanced aircraft carrier, the Fujian, took a big step to joining the world’s largest naval fleet on Wednesday as it set out from Shanghai for its first sea trials. “The sea trials will primarily test the reliability and stability of the aircraft carrier’s propulsion and electrical systems,” read an announcement from the state-run Xinhua news agency on Wednesday. The warship was launched in 2022 and has “completed its mooring trials, outfitting work and equipment adjustments” working up to the latest sea trials, Xinhua said. Tesla has been a leader in gigacasting, a cutting-edge technique that uses huge presses with thousands of tons of clamping pressure to die-cast large sections of the car's underbody. One of the two sources familiar with the automaker's gigacasting operations said the suppliers involved are now adapting Tesla's three-piece process for the next-generation vehicle. Both sources said the automaker decided last autumn to halt work on the more innovative and difficult one-piece casting process.

"With China's economy slowing, India is likely to be the fastest growing Asian economy this decade," Nomura said in a recent note. "Irrespective of the election outcome, policy continuity and a focus on macroeconomic stability are important growth underpinnings," the bank's analysts added.

The Wall Street Journal reported that China's government had signaled to Musk that it would support Tesla's full self-driving rollout. Signs of slowing demand in China have dragged on Tesla's stock price in recent months, although shares rallied last week after Musk's company said it planned to launch cheaper models in 2025. "Musk winning FSD approval in the key China market is a watershed moment for the Tesla story in our view," Ives said in a note seen by BI.
